Papilio ophidicephalus, the emperor swallowtail (ventral view), original watercolour art

Papilio ophidicephalus, the emperor swallowtail, is a butterfly of the family Papilionidae. It is found in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The wingspan is 90–110 mm in males and 100–120 mm in females. It was discovered in 1878 by French entomologist Charles Oberthür.

This original hand drawn entomology illustration was presented at my personal exhibition in the National Natural History Museum of Ukraine in 2024. It has also participated in the charity exhibition in Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art in 2025. It's one of a kind and comes with certificate ot authenticity.
