This artwork was inspired by a old time illustration from the 'The frog: an introduction to anatomy and histology', 1885. I like the elegant minimalism of amphibians bone structure and perfect posing of frogs. Frogs and toads (anurans) have profoundly modified skeletons and are among the most atypical of tetrapods. If you see a frog or toad skeleton you might be surprised by how few bones there are. Anurans skeletons are weirdly archaic and highly specialised at the same time. Evolution definitely has a very specific sense of humour.
This artwork is unique and totally hand-drawn with archival quality watercolour paints on the 100% cotton paper by Saunders Waterford.
