This piece is an original, hand-drawn watercolor illustration of a Carnotaurus skull, inspired by real paleontological research and fossil reconstructions. Each line and wash was created by hand, making this artwork a one-of-a-kind piece—no prints, no reproductions.

Carnotaurus sastrei was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur that lived approximately 72–69 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Argentina. Its name means “meat-eating bull,” a reference to the distinctive horn-like structures above its eyes—an unusual feature among carnivorous dinosaurs.

The skull of Carnotaurus is especially fascinating to scientists. It was short, deep, and powerfully built, with forward-facing eyes that suggest strong binocular vision. Unlike many other large predators, Carnotaurus likely relied on speed and rapid strikes, rather than bone-crushing bites, to hunt its prey.

This artwork combines scientific accuracy with expressive watercolor techniques, capturing both the anatomy and the prehistoric presence of this remarkable animal. It is ideal for collectors of original art, dinosaur enthusiasts, natural history lovers, or as a striking statement piece in a studio, office, or gallery wall.
